Selective Fishing

"Selective Fishing" is a video that documents how WDFW promotes a "catch and release" component to extend commercial fishing seasons. Excerpts of videos played by WDFW during training classes required of commercial gill-netters lays out the proper processes and procedures one is supposed to use to target an abundant species for harvest while releasing others back to the water so they can continue upriver to their spawning grounds. Once you see how WDFW and the Fish & Wildlife claim the program is supposed to implemented and practiced, you will be prepared to view the "Chehalis Fling" video that follows in the Creative Accounting Series. You will immediately recognize the difference between the way WDFW and the Commission says the program works and the way they really use the concept in the two coastal estuaries.
