LATEST & GREATEST ................ well latest
I thought I would take a minute and update everyone on the PDR legal action link and things in general. Friday we had our first hearing which was more or less just a formality. Our attorney Joe Frawley meet Joe link and the Attorney Generals office, who will represent WDF&W, have been in contact and a schedule has more or less been worked out as to how things will proceed. Easy enough to say but you know folks this is a rather amazing process, to say the least. Tim Hamilton the FTC website administrator who has substantial knowledge of the legal processes, has been a life saver but having never been involved with the law before to any real degree it is rather fascinating to see how the legal system works. As we go through the legal steps I will try and get the information out so all can follow the process.
Next up the commercial and sport seasons for Grays Harbor and the Chehalis Basin. On the commercial side when we left NOF link in Olympia the 29th of March it was seven days Non Treaty nets and the use of tangle nets were required with a 25% mortality on released Wild Chinook. how they release Chinook link Since that time not much has happened, in fact zero as far as I can tell. The Washington Administrative Code process WAC link process that formally puts seasons in to law in a rule making process rules link has not changed so it continues to be a wait and watch thing.
Now on the sport season side it has been interesting as the pamphlet is out pamphlet link but the WAC for recreational fishing has not been adopted by the WDF&W Commission. We were all wondering how WDF&W would address this issue as several changes had been made in the pamphlet but not the WAC. The answer is a emergency rule rule link that temporarily takes care of things but only temporarily. WDF&W must adopt the recreational WAC on down the road and I will try and keep all up to date.
